The story began in 1956, when the sealant sector developed from the area of adhesives. The subsequent rapid development of this division is intrinsically linked with advances made worldwide in the development of insulating glass.

KÖMMERLING’s major breakthrough occurred in 1969, with the development of the first primerless, polysulphide-based, dual-component sealant. A further milestone in the history of insulating glass at KÖMMERLING followed some 15 years later, with the introduction of the very first low-viscosity polysulphide formulation for automated sealing systems.
