Feldspar and nepheline syenite are still the biggest consumer of the glass industry. Feldspathic minerals contribute to glass batch mainly in the form of a source of alumina. However diluent ( flux ) properties are also useful. Alkali feldspar serves as flux to reduce the melting temperature.
